Mary Greene, PhD
My ancestral roots run deep in the United States and particularly in the mid-Atlantic states. Over the years I have traveled across the country uncovering many of my family stories and records that were lost in time. In 2014, Legacy Finders, LLC was launched to pursue my passion of helping others in their journey of finding and telling their family stories. Whether you need assistance with capturing your own personal history or looking for that illusive family member, Legacy Finders can help.
I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogist (APG) and my profile can be found on their website. In addition, I am also a member of the National Genealogical Society (NGS), the North Carolina Genealogy Society, the Virginia Genealogical Society, the Tennessee Genealogical Society, and the Kentucky Genealogical Society. Through these and other organizations I have developed expertise in a broad range of records, techniques, and approaches needed to address complex genealogical questions. I specialize in the states of North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia, but have researched at many local and state repositories in the United States. Most of the research I perform is in the 18th and 19th centuries.
I hold a degree in biology, and advanced degrees in microbiology, public policy, and environmental science. My science education, research skills, and professional experience provide me with the skills needed to assist clients with focusing their genealogy research questions and identifying the information and records needed to answer those questions.
