Legacy Finders guides individuals, families, organizations and communities in the discovery of their histories in order to ensure that these stories are preserved for future generations.
As a small business co-owned by a woman and a disabled Vietnam veteran, Legacy Finders is a life history company located in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, and specializing in the North Carolina and Virginia areas.
During my over 25 year career with the federal government I’ve had many opportunities to lead significant projects, but it was not until I started working on personal histories and genealogy that I found my true passion. In 2014, my husband and I launched Legacy Finders to pursue our passion of helping others tell their stories.
At Legacy Finders our portfolio ranges from personal, house, organizational, and family histories. We also perform genealogical services and can provide these services as part of personal and family histories. As part of our mission, we look for opportunities to undertake community related projects that help to build historical knowledge and understanding.
I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), the National Genealogical Society (NGS), the Fairfax Genealogical Society (FxGS), and the Virginia Genealogical Society (VGS).
I hold degrees in biology, microbiology, public policy, and environmental science. My education and professional experience have provided me skills in researching, writing, interviewing, and training that will ensure successful project completion. I split my time between Northern Virginia and the Lake Norman area of North Carolina.

Before retiring, my work focused on information technology, where I was involved in the design, development, testing, deployment, and operation of secure communication systems. This work allowed me to develop my skills in writing, interviews, and training, which are readily transferrable to Legacy Finders.
As a veteran of the Vietnam War, I am particularly interested in working with veterans to tell their stories. As avid pet lovers, my wife and I are interested in working with local veterinarians to develop Pet Memorial Tributes to help grieving pet owners remember their beloved pets and perhaps soften the grieving process. I will also be working with area end-of-life professionals to assist their clients in capturing their fond memories and passing them on to future generations. Each life is special and unique and we want to help each of our clients unfold their story.
At the national level, I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG). At the state and local levels, I hold memberships in the North Carolina Genealogical Society (NCGS), the Rowan County Genealogical Society, the Catawba County Genealogical Society, the Fairfax Genealogical Society (FxGS), and the Virginia Genealogical Society (VGS) .
I hold a Master of Arts degree, Business Management, from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science degree, Political Science, from the University of Maryland, University College. I split my time between Sherrills Ford, North Carolina and Northern Virginia.
